IOM in the North Pacific at a Glance

IOM established its first office in the region in Majuro in May 2009. The opening of the sub-regional Head Office in Pohnpei followed a few months later. The FSM has been a member state since December 2011 and the RMI acceded to membership on 26 November, 2013.

About the DRM Network

The Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Network is a group of like-minded agencies/organizations that are contributing to the field of disaster risk reduction and management. The primary purpose of the DRM Network is to coordinate activities being implemented in this sector in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM); while also sharing trends, ideas and developments in the field more broadly. Recently, the Network has incorporated the themes of climate change and adaptation to its focus.

The Network is jointly chaired by the FSM Office of Environment and Emergency Management (OEEM) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
